Voicemail Greeting Basics
Your voicemail greeting has a specific purpose for your business.
Whenever you phone someone for your business the best course of action is to talk with someone. There are occasions when people are not at home. In this instance it is important to leave a voicemail greeting or message. This is a greeting that can be very helpful for you and your business. Many business people call a phone number but do not leave a voicemail message. It is critical to leave a voicemail message if given the opportunity.

How many times should you attempt to leave a voicemail greeting?
Attempt up to 3 calls and leave up to 3 messages with a voicemail greeting for each call. If the person doesn't return your message after the third time they may not be interested in talking with you.
Principles of Leaving a Phone Message
1. Who-->Mention who the message is for.
2. Who you are-->Leave your first and last name, the name of your business, and your phone number.
3. Why-->Mention why you are calling. It is for their reasons and not yours. It was due to an action that person made or a recommendation from a trusted friend.
4. Your Benefit-->Mention what you have that could benefit that person.
5. Requested Action-->Mention that you will send an email and have something that they can do.
6. Phone Number-->Remind them of your phone number.
7. Thanks-->Thank them for their time.
8. Email-->Send an email to follow up on the call. Make sure to give the customer a chance to unsubscribe to the email if they wish.
Make sure to be clear, concise and to the point. Practice a few times what to say. You are a consultant who has information that can help meet the needs of that person.
