The New York Times had an article about a company called Akoo.
Akoo is a company that is setting up a network of digital screens that can interact with your cell phone thru their m-Venue product. M-Venue allows the digital screens to send and receive text messages when the user is in proximity to the screens. So the cell phone can act like a universal remote control for on-demand content from those screens.
These screens would be in proximity to airports, bars, and
restaurants. So the cell phone user can select music, sports, or fashion from their cell phone. The content can then be viewed on the cell phone or the digital screen. Revenue is expected to grow from $1.5 billion in 2007 to $2.6 billion in 2010.
