Computer software for small business can help your computer do many things. The software must work well with hardware attached to your pc like a webcam.

Here are some additional recommendations from a techy friend for your pc purchase:

-Webcam: The two main manufacturers of Webcams are Logitech and Microsoft. Look for webcams that support most online chat software (i.e. Skype, AIM, and Windows Messenger). Also, be sure to look for webcams that support still shots and streaming video, as well as Face Tracking, Right Light Technology, and a manual focus option.

-Back-up Source: This will come in handy when storing a lot of video or images on your hard drive. An external back-up source (i.e. large flash drives, small hard disk drives, optical disks, network storage, or online backup sites) will allow you to archive important information in case of a fatal crash or hardware failure. In conjunction with the back-up source, look for a good back-up software (i.e. Norton Ghost, SimpleTech’s One Touch Back-up or EMC Retrospect). Using software like this will allow you to automate your back-ups and schedule back-ups for once a month, week, or day if needed.

-Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware Software: When doing work online, everyone knows you’re vulnerable to viruses, spyware, adaware, and malware. Good software (i.e. Norton Internet Security Suite, Kasperksy Internet Security Suite, or Webroot Spy Sweeper) will protect you in general web surfing, online transactions using back accounts, and Downloading/uploading images or video.

-Windows Vista: When buying a new machine, whether a desktop PC or a notebook/laptop, be sure to look at which version of Windows Vista comes pre-installed. Windows Vista Home Premium is a good starter version of a Windows Operating System. It is geared towards media, which is crucial when using a webcam/microphone setup and when viewing/creating video online. Also, if possible, look to upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate. This gives you the best of everything when it comes to Windows Vista and usually isn’t much more expensive as an upgrade option when buying a new machine.
